FEATURED ARTIST INTERVIEW | DJ INFERNO

This past week the team took some time off our friday night to interview/shoot our boy DJ Inferno inside the Power 106 station, during one of his LIVE sessions, to chop up his recent accomplishments & offer some insight on how he's made it over the years to be recognized as one of Power's top Dj's & boy was it one for the books. Much appreciated fam.

(Inferno rockin' our "L.A Clique Varsity Hoody")

(L.A Clique) First & foremost please let us know why the name Inferno?

(Inferno) Came up with up with the name in the 10th grade, during my high school photography class. I remember brainstorming, and writing down cool Dj names for days. One day my photo teacher had some 70's music playing in the background during class, the song "Disco Inferno" came on, I was like YUP thats it!! INFERNO without the DJ.

(L.A Clique) Where did you grow up & what inspired you to grab a turntable and begin Dj'ing?

(Inferno) Grew up in the San Fernando valley, I was inspired by my father who was a DJ in his younger years. As a kid I was always surrounded by great music. I remember having a set of turntables in our living room, I used to always get on them & play with them when no one was home, at the time I didn't even know what I was doing.

Seems like yesterday I used to get in huge trouble for using them, I had a strong love for the music & curiousity in the tables, that later led me into mixing those records. It became a hobby of mine and after many years of practice, I finally received approval to use them turntables. Soon after that I started Djing School Functions and House Parties for my peers, saved up all my gig money & bought my own pair of turntables at age 19, thats when it all started.

(L.A Clique) You've recently been added to the list of ON AIR DJ's for L.A's #1 hip hop station (POWER 106) can you share your thoughts on how that came about?

(Inferno) It all started a few months after I graduated High School, I turned in an application to work for Power106's promotional street team. Blessed enough to have gotten hired, I was all over the streets, Dj'ed several concerts, clubs, theme parks and high schools events all over Los Angeles. I had the opportunity to be a part of a whole lot of cool events & met a lot of dope people. After almost 4 Years of hard work in the streets and turning in demos, I finally got a call by Dj Felli Fel to be on the radio. It was an accomplishment and a HUGE DREAM come true. I remember it, like it was yesterday super nervous on my first day mixing live. Dope!

(L.A Clique) Tell us, how does it feel to be spinning live for those thousands of ears who listen to the station night in & night out?

(Inferno) It's honestly the best feeling in the world, it's where I'm the most happiest. To be able to make people feel good and have a good time through music and my style of Djing, just Amazing. I could do it EVERYDAY!

(Inferno rockin' our "Clique Beanie")

(L.A Clique) For those people that have or have not experienced your work through the station or a live set at a nightclub, what kind of perception do you want them to walk away with?

(Inferno) I want them to walk away feeling like a million bucks, lol. Everyone has their good and bad days, I feel my job as a DJ is to give them some type of escape from their problems, during the time they're listening & vibing with me. I want people to feel good and look forward to listening to me again.

(Inferno rockin' our "L.A Clique Varsity Hoody")

(L.A Clique) Power 106 is definitely known for rocking party hits, whats the craziest events you and the crew have attended in or out of the station?

(Inferno) The craziest party EVER, was this club in Las Vegas i was Djing for, full of midgets, man..do they know how to party, good times foreal.

(L.A Clique) Tell us Inferno, how far have girls gone for a pair of concert tickets?

(Inferno) Ohh man..I've seen a few do a little too much lol, lets just say it's always hella entertaining.

(Inferno rockin' our "Clique Beanie")

(L.A Clique) So when can the people/fans take a listen to our boy on Power106?

(Inferno) You can listen and rock with me on Power106 FM every friday night from 11pm-2am (105.9) or listen on line www.Power106.com

(Inferno rockin' our "L.A Clique Varsity Hoody")

(L.A Clique) Last words or shout outs?

(Inferno) Be great at what you do ya'll whatever it is. Be awesome & work hard at it. Don't let anyone tell you, you can't live your dream. Much love to all my supporters, fam, the whole Power 106 team, the listeners & L.A Clique for the support.

Rick Rubin | Music X Spirituality

The latest edition of NOWNESS details how Rick Rubin, famed producer experiences his own personal spirituality. Rubin, who has been subtly (that is, outside of the media lens) spiritual for some time now, discusses how it relates to music, art and other aspects of existence. The stillness of a grey Malibu beach sets the backdrop for Rubin’s soliloquy, lending the piece a certain philosophical tone. While quietly practicing his cycle, the bearded media mogul meditates on the connection between ostensibly unrelated subjects, and how the pursuit of spiritual perfection is manifested in other art forms–food for thought after a hectic week back to work. Enjoy.
